Red Raider Texas Tech University Sports Center

Texas Tech University (TTU), more commonly known as Texas Tech, is a coeducational public research university located in Lubbock, Texas in USA. Established in 1923, TTU has an undergraduate degree, medical school and a law school and even is the only school of its kind in Texas. More than 150 programs are offered through 13 colleges and as well , 60 research centers. It is also famous in the field of grid computing, nanophotonics, wind energy and even epidemiology.

History

On February 10, 1923, TTU was established in the name of Texas Technological College. Its construction started in late 1924 and by 1960s, the school was not limited to providing only technical subjects. Due to this and even to sustain the double “T” in its name, the school was renamed to
Texas Tech University
and other than Law, all its school became colleges. The Texas Tech University system was developed in 1996 by the Texas Tech Board of Regents. Since 2000, $548 million was spent for new construction in the university. $500 in grants and even funds has been given to the university in 2010 and 2011.

Academic Profile and Campus

TTU is presently the sixth largest university in Texas and even more than 30,000 students enrolled in it in 2009. Not just from the United States but has the university also educated foreign students from more than 100 different countries. Being recognized by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, the university has 150 bachelor’s degrees, 104 masters and 59 doctoral degrees to offer to its students. Initially TTU had 4 schools however gradually it expanded to 2 schools and 10 colleges. The research institute it has is very active in developing treatment for AIDS and even other diseases and also has made diverse com in NASA projects.

TTU has an area of 7.44 km2 and is the second largest university campus in the United States. It has both an off-campus and even on-campus book store which satisfies the needs of the teachers of all disciplines along with the students. The university book store is one of the oldest off-campus book stores in Lubbock. The book stores not simply have books available at much cheaper price however , also thousands of free eBooks
